Boundary Layer Seeing

Here is a short video showing the convective cells forming on the front face of a telescope mirror. The telescope is 16" diameter. The mirror is about 6-8°C warmer than the air. A spider web like structure can be detectd. The frame rate is 15 fps and does not look as fluid as to the eye. The bright network marks the boundaries of the convective cells. Where boundaries and on the edge, there are spikes.
